Quick History of the Emily Morgan

Named for mysterious Emily Morgan who is reported to have played a unique role in the Texas Army’s victory over the Mexican army, the Emily Morgan hotel celebrates a rich, storied history. The building was completed in 1924 as the Medical Arts Building is the first skyscraper west of the Mississippi River. It was recognized in 1977 by National Register of Historic Places and became the Emily Morgan hotel in 1977. The Emily Morgan Hotel is a member of Historic Hotels Worldwide®, which is dedicated to promoting heritage and cultural travel to prestigious historic treasures.
